What Is SIRVA?

SIRVA stands for Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration. It is believed to be caused by improper administration of an intramuscular, deltoid-region vaccination; although, some SIRVA have occurred despite proper vaccine administration technique being used.

When a vaccine is injected too high in the shoulder or at the wrong angle, it can damage the shoulder's bursa, tendons, or ligaments. This can lead to chronic pain, inflammation, and limited mobility.

When a vaccine is injected into the shoulder, it is intended to be absorbed into the deltoid muscle. If the vaccine is injected too high on the shoulder or at the wrong angle, it can damage the shoulder joint including the bursa, tendons, or ligaments. This can lead to inflammation, chronic pain, and limited mobility. This can also result in a pain, limited mobility, and even a frozen shoulder.

In 1988, the federal government created the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program to provide compensation for individuals who suffer vaccine injuries caused by most vaccines administered in the United States. You do not sue the vaccine administrator or manufacturer. Rather, you seek compensation from an over $4 billion dollar fund administered by the federal government solely for the purpose of compensating vaccine-injured individuals.
